Permanent Position: Front-end Web Developer HTML / CSS / WCAG
The Role
This is a great opportunity for a creative person looking to further their skills in an expanding web agency, specialising in CMS powered websites and online applications. Applicants should have strong communication skills, be able to work with minimal guidance, in a full time office-based role in Chertsey. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a small team on large projects under a technical lead, and taking responsibility for smaller work. A good standard of spoken and written English is required for this role.
We have a broad range of clients ranging from local authorities to large blue chips to commercial organisations.
Typical Projects
- Converting Photoshop comps to HTML page templates using CSS layouts
- Adding front ends to online applications
- Converting websites to accessible, semantic/standards-based HTML for accessibility overhauls/makeovers
- Dealing with online support calls and basic technical questions from clients
- Updating existing CSS websites
Required Skills / Experience
- At least 2 years experience in a similar role (with URL's to back this up)
- Ability to hand-code valid, semantic, accessible HTML with cross-browser compatible CSS layouts
- You must have a firm handle on W3C standards, accessibility concerns, as well as browser specific bugs
- Able to convert a Photoshop comp to CSS-based HTML layout without batting an eyelid
- Familiar with web standards and standards-based techniques, but know when to break the rules
Additional Skills (not required, but a plus)
- Creative web design skills
- DOM Javascript
- Understanding of modern SEO techniques
- Flash Actionscript
- HTML in email clients

You will have at least 2 years commercial experience in this field and preferably an understanding of Government and Accessibility standards.
