FOI Module
Punch CMS is a management tool designed specifically to meet the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) obligations of Public Sector organisations.
Included as standard with every issue of Punch CMS is a module that allows the FOI publication scheme to be updated automatically every time a page is added to the site – an essential tool for all Public Sector organisations.
It is accepted best practice that Public Authorities should publish as much content as possible online, so that citizens will find the information that they require without having to make a Request for Access. However, for this policy to work the content creation must be distributed widely within the organisation so that non technical people can easily publish information online.
A workflow and approval process is required to ensure that no content is published incorrectly. This raises the problem of how the Publication Scheme is maintained.
Punch CMS solves this issue by automatically associating a Class of Information to content as it is published. Any structured metadata is automatically mapped to the Classes of Information and if appropriate to other category lists such as Local Government Category List.
In this way Punch CMS automatically maintains the organisations Publication Scheme, including the automatic creation of a printer friendly version of the publication scheme and website.
